The Foothills Folk Art Festival is a juried, folk-art themed show, with a focus on artwork that is intensely influenced by and displaying the spirit of folk, visionary, and outsider art. The festival is a partnership between the Downtown Newton Development Association (DNDA) and the Hickory Museum of Art (HMA). Last, but not to be missed, is this family friendly festival, the Foothills Folk Art Festival, which draws thousands of visitors from throughout the region.

The museum houses a collection of vintage railroad equipment that dates as far back as the era of Reconstruction, days when primitive iron rails endeavored to connect the cotton fields of lowland farms to the vast timber interests of the Appalachians. The city’s musical heritage is deep and wide, so be sure to listen to the music when you walk around the Southeastern Narrow Gauge & Shortline Museum. Vernon Dalhart’s 1924 version was the first million-selling record of the genre. Listen to the song “Wreck of the ol’ 97,” which was considered the first modern country and western song, by many historians. This second history stop offers you an encounter with southwestern railroad history as shown through music. Life-or-death emergencies are serious illnesses, injuries, or deaths in your immediate family (parent, legal guardian, child, spouse, sibling, and grandparent) that require you to travel outside the United States within 3 business days. Regional passport agencies are offering two types of appointments: Life-of-Death Emergency Service and Urgent Travel Service. Requesting 1-2-day mailing service is recommended. Mailing times vary across the country.Įxpedited service takes from 7 to 9 weeks excluding mailing times on the front and back end.
This timeframe does not include delivery time. Standard service may take between 10 and 13 weeks. The Department of State's processing times begin when applications are received at a passport agency or center and not when you mail them or apply at a local acceptance facility.
